Key Stage 3 non-core subjects

All learners in their final year of Key Stage 3 must be assessed through teacher assessments. The general expectation is that the majority of 14 year olds will attain level 5 in each subject. The National Curriculum subjects (Key Stages 2 and 3) in Wales are split into two categories, core subjects and non-core subjects. For Key Stages 2 and 3, the non-core subjects are art and design, design and technology, geography, history, information and communication technology, modern foreign language, music, physical education and Welsh second language.

Teacher assessment data at a school, local authority and consortia level is not published for 2018 onwards, following consultation on the publication of this data (see ‘The Education (Amendments Relating to Teacher Assessment Information) (Wales) Regulations 2018’ link below).
