Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Some images may not include alternative text descriptions. We aim to provide alternative text for images and tables used on the StatsWales site, however there may be instances where these have not yet been provided. The current StatsWales site will be retired by 2023, after which the replacement service will provide alternative text descriptions for all images. When we publish new content for the current site we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards. If you should discover an image without an alternative text description, please contact us.

Some tables may not include titles or descriptions. We aim to provide titles and descriptions for tables used on the StatsWales site, however there may be instances where these have not yet been provided. The current StatsWales site will be retired by 2023, after which the replacement service will provide titles and descriptions for all tables. When we publish new content on the current site we’ll make sure our tables meet accessibility standards. If you should discover a table without a title or description, please contact us.

Some tables may contain split cells, merged cells or nested tables. We aim to avoid using split cells, merged cells or nested tables within tables on the StatesWales site, however there may be instances where these occur. The current StatsWales site will be retired by 2023, after which the replacement service will not contain split cells, merged cells or nested tables. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our tables meet accessibility standards. If you should discover any instances of split cells, merged cells or nested tables within tables or StatsWales, please contact us.

Content that’s not within scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

Some of our Excel documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have Excel documents which allow users to view, manipulate, create and download tables from Welsh data. By 2023, we plan to improve the accessibility of all essential Excel documents on StatsWales.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix National Survey for Wales results, 2014-15: Arts, heritage, museums.

Any new Excel documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
