Absenteeism

Primary absenteeism: Data relate to absenteeism by pupils of compulsory school age (age 5-15) from maintained primary schools and by pupils aged 5-10 from special and independent schools in Wales. The data relate to the entire academic year. Local authority totals include maintained primary and special school, whereas Wales totals include maintained primary, special and independent schools.

Secondary absenteeism: Data relate to absenteeism by pupils of compulsory schools age (5-15) from maintained primary schools and by pupils aged 11-15 from special and independent schools in Wales. The data relate to the period from the start of the academic year to the late May bank holiday. Local authority totals include maintained secondary and special school, whereas Wales totals include maintained secondary, special and independent schools.
