General description
This dataset gives details on Rail Incidents in Wales up to the 2023 calendar year. Information about safety of the mainline rail network comes from the Rail Safety and Standards Board. Data are presented as the number of train incidents reported in that calendar year.Data collection and calculation
Rail transport information are compiled by the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR). ORR data are available via their National Rail Trends (NRT) Data Portal, an online interface for ORR’s database of rail statistics: http://dataportal.orr.gov.uk/.Rail safety data are taken from the Rail Safety and Standards Board’s (RSSB) Safety Management Information System (SMIS). For more information about the SMIS see the RSSB website: https://www.rssb.co.uk/
