Metadata

General description

This dataset gives the number of station entries and exits for stations that form part of the South Wales network, by year and station. The data consists of estimates of the number of passengers travelling to and from each station (entries and exits).

Data collection and calculation

The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) commissions Steer Davies Gleave to collate and report on station usage figures on an annual basis. The estimates are based on ticket sales data from the national ticketing database and estimates of travel. More detail on the methodology can be found in the ORR’s Estimates of Station Usage 2020-21 report and in the key quality information of the statistical bulletin (see weblinks).
