General description

Local Authorities, as the local highway authority, are responsible for County A roads, B and C roads and minor surfaced roads that they have adopted. They are responsible for more than 33,000 kilometres of the road network.

Data collection and calculation

Based on inspection of the road surface using machine based SCANNER surveys. The figures for this indicator represent the percentage of the road network length that is equal to or above the RED threshold; that is in poor overall condition.
