[Collapse]LettingsHoused from the waiting list includes lettings from waiting lists, lettings to non-priority homeless, lettings resulting from a nomination from another landlord and lettings resulting from resettlement/move-on strategies or disabled registers. Priority need homeless are those households accepted by a local authority as homeless or threatened with homelessness who are categorised, by the Local Authority, as being in priority need of accommodation. Lettings through exchanges involve dwellings let to tenants of other social landlords through mutual exchanges during the financial year and existing tenants enabled to move within the local authority\’s stock through mutual exchange agreements during the financial year. Lettings through transfers involve tenants transferring within the organisation\’s stock, i.e. where an existing tenant is transferred to another tenancy under the organisation\’s policy for transfers. The total for transfers and exchanges does not add up at a Wales level between 2005-06 and 2007-08 because the RSL data was only collected as a total of transfers and exchanges and not separately. General description

The information presented here covers the number of lettings within housing stock held by Local Authorities and Registered Social Landlords. The information is collected via annual returns from Welsh social landlords in order to monitor trends over time in the number and type of lettings made. Lettings covers all lettings during the financial year and includes new lets, re-lets, transfers and exchanges.

2) Data on lettings for Gwalia Housing Group was unavailable for 2010-11 and 2011-12. For 2010-11, 2009-10 data has been used. For 2011-12, total lettings was received separately and a breakdown by location and letting type derived by applying the proportions from 2009-10;

3) A revision of the data from the Vale of Glamorgan was identified to the previous year's lettings data for 2008-09 however the revised data could not be provided before the publication date.

4) For 2008-09 and 2009-10, Abbeyfield societies, Almshouse Charities and Co-ownership societies were not required to complete a lettings return.

Data collection and calculation

The information presented here is collected via annual returns from Local Authorities and Registered Social Landlords for each financial year.

In 2018-19 one RSL (Baneswell Housing Association) was unable to submit data. Therefore information provided by Baneswell HA for 2017-18 has been used for 2018-19 to provide a more accurate local authority total and Wales level total.

During the 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 data collection and validation, some landlords were unable to either submit data or to resolve validation errors. Where this is the case, the best available estimate of the missing or incorrect data has been used. Whilst this should have only a small effect on data at a Wales level, care may be needed when using data for specific areas and providers. The list below details the issues:

1) Data on lettings for Blaenau Gwent was unavailable for 2009-10, so 2008-09 data has been used for 2009-10;
