Flintshire was unable to provide data for those residing in own home and Carmarthenshire was unable to provide data for those residing with parents or family. <br /><br />In 2020-21, Merthyr Tydfil did not maintain a learning disability register for adults.<br /><br />No data is available for 2019-20 due to COVID.<br /><br />Caerphilly was unable to provide data for 2018-19, due to technical issues with their ICT systems. In 2018-19, Powys could not provide a breakdown of data for individual placement settings for those aged 16 and over; they could only provide totals. Therefore, these totals are based on 21 local authorities and the individual placement settings are based on 20 local authorities. General description

Local authorities submit numbers of all persons identified as having a learning disability currently known to the authority and included in a register of records for the purpose of planning or providing services.
The register of people with learning disabilities data may be an underestimate of the total number of people with learning disabilities as registration is voluntary.

Data collection and calculation

The data were supplied to the Data Collection team within the Welsh Government by local authorities in Wales. The form applies an extensive series of validation checks to ensure that the information provided is accurate and consistent.
