Last Update: 31/01/12;
Was added to StatsWales: 31/01/12;

Normal deliveries are defined as deliveries without instrumental delivery, caesarean section or induction. This differs from some other definitions of normal delivery and birth because of the lack of availability data to define it more precisely. It equates to deliveries recorded as Unassisted where in addition there is no recorded induction code.

Please note the methodolgoy for counting Normal Births was improved in 2009 resulting in a very slight adjustment in some of the data for years prior to 2007-08.
