Data collection and calculation

This data shows the overall number of FTE fully qualified GPs by staff group in year 2 by the staff group the same staff were working in on the same date in year 1.

FTE data rounded to 1 decimal place.

Revisions information

The data for Year 2: 30 September 2023 (Year 1: 30 September 2022) published in February 2024 has been revised in line with improvements in the method for calculating workforce flows. Previously GPs with multiple contracts and those who left general practice were not included, whereas all GPs are now captured in the data.
