General description

Source: Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA)
Contact: HigherEducationAndStudentFinance.Stats@gov.wales

These data provide information on the finance of Higher Education Institutions in Wales. The data are collected by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) directly from institutions. HESA publish data for all UK HEIs in their annual publication Resources of Higher Education Institutions.
Total Income excludes group and share of joint venture(s). This will mean that the sum of income categories may not equal the total shown in the table.

Note that the figures for Welsh HEIs include staff and finance data for the University of Wales Registry.

The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) collect data on students, staff and resources of higher education institutions (HEIs) in the UK. Further information about HESA and their data collections can be found on their website www.hesa.ac.uk

Figures have been presented to the nearest thousand pounds. Total figures are also subject to this rounding methodology; the consequence of which is that the sum of numbers in each row or column may not match the total shown precisely.

It should be noted that where comparisons are made between the latest financial year and a previous year, the figures for the previous year are as re-stated in the most recent financial statements available; any exceptions are noted explicitly.

Statistical quality

The latest year is provisional and will be revised with next year’s update. It should be noted that where comparisons are made between the latest financial year and a previous year, the figures for the previous year are as re-stated in the most recent financial statements available; any exceptions are noted explicitly. Some published tables on www.hesa.ac.uk will not contain the most recent financial statements for the previous year and therefore there may be some small discrepancies.
