The staff full-time equivalent (FTE) data provides the official source of statistics on Post 16 staff FTEs at Further Education Institutions (FEIs) in Wales. This data is used for monitoring staff FTE figures and to inform strategy development. The data can be broken down by academic year, institution, and pay expenditure category. The staff FTE data is collected as part of the Finance Record. The Finance Record is primarily a financial return supplied to the Welsh Government by FEIs and comprises a replica of their financial statements.
Data for Merthyr Tydfil College had not been collected between 2006/07 and 2011/12 inclusive following its merger with the University of Glamorgan in 2006. Data for Merthyr Tydfil College has also been excluded from the 2004/05 and 2005/06 academic years. From 2012/13, data for Merthyr Tydfil College is included once more.
Separate figures for Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor and the Welsh College of Horticulture are not included from 2009/10 onwards, as these institutions merged into Coleg Llandrillo Cymru and Deeside College respectively during the academic year. The latter two institutions therefore show a rise in staff FTE numbers between 2008/09 and 2009/10. Similar effects can be observed from 2010/11 onwards from the merger of Coleg Llysfasi into Deeside College. Full details of any mergers are given in annotations next to the provider names.
To avoid potential disclosure of individuals, figures are rounded to the nearest 5, and whilst true zeros are displayed, any values of 1, 2, 3 or 4 are suppressed using a '*' symbol. This rounding strategy may result in discrepancies between sums of constituent rows and the totals given.
