General description

The employment deprivation indicator is calculated from a count of individuals in receipt of:
- Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Incapacity Benefit
- Universal Credit (and not in employment)


Claimants of multiple benefits are only counted once.
This indicator is expressed as a percentage of the working age population for each geography group.
