Year

Measure $Five year average of infant death rate per 1,000 live births under 1 year old, in each deprivation quintile. Deprivation quintiles are calculated using the lower-layer super output areas (LSOAs) rankings from the combined income and employment domains of the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation (WIMD) only. Only these two domains are used as they best represent \'poverty\'. The Welsh Index of Multiple deprivation ranks the 1896 LSOAs of Wales by deprivation, where rank 1 is the most deprived, and 1896 the least. Figures for 1998-2002, 2000-2004 and 2002-2006 are based on WIMD 2005 rankings; 2004-08 are based on WIMD 2008 rankings. $
