General description

These data show number of people in employment who earn at least the real living wage for the UK countries/English regions. The data relate to both full-time and part-time employees who are on permanent contracts or on temporary contracts and not seeking permanent employment. Area relates to the location of workplace, not the residence of the employee.

More information on the real living wage can be found below:

Data collection and calculation

These data are taken from the ANNUAL datasets from the Annual Population Survey (APS). These surveys are carried out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). APS data are collected throughout the year and are published for calendar years.

Nomis is the ONS's official portal for labour market statistics. Note that some estimates from Nomis for the APS may differ slightly from those presented here due to differences in how local authority geographies are constructed.
